CSC Takes THIRD at COUNTY CHAMPS!!!

Congratulations to Melanie Gaffey for earning 1st place High Point for 15-18 girls!! We also had FOUR second place High Point winners..13-14 Mikaila Gaffey, 13-14 Christopher Cannon, 11-12 Sean Cannon and 11-12 Katherine Green. Placing third for 13-14 High Point was Nicole Hetzer.

Class of 2008 Update

Class of 2008 swimmers Kelly Bunster, Kristen Bucaria and Sean Conway all had phenomenal first seasons swimming in three different conferences of NCAA Division One Swimming. Kelly swims for Fordham in the Atlantic-10 Conference, Kristen swims for Bucknell in the Patriot League Conference and Sean swims for Stony Brook in the America East Conference.

At conference championships Kelly Bunster broke TWO Fordham records in the 50 free(8th place, 23.7) and in the 100 fly(2nd place, 55.4). She also placed 5th in the 100 free(51.5 and was part of THREE record breaking relays including the 800 free relay that place first and broke the Atlantic-10 conference record. Kristen Bucaria is the only freshman on the Bucknell Top Ten all time list for four events... the 400IM(4:33.45), 200IM(2:08.81), 200 Fly(2:09.05) and 200 Breast(2:26.36). At Patriot League Championships Kristen placed top 16 in the 200 IM(14th), 400IM(11th) and 200 Fly(13th). At ECAC's she placed 10th in the 200 Breast. Bucknell ECAC recap page

Sean Conway had all top 16 finishes at his America East Conference championships. He placed 8th in the 50 free(21.25), 7th in the 200 free(1:42.26) and 9th in the 100 free(46.08).

14 Year old Sara Dieterich had a phenomenal JO's swimming personal bests in prelims and then again in finals in all of her events...she had a total of 12 best swims over the three days of JO's. Great job Sara!! CSC had a lot of swimmers place top 16 at this meet. This required swimming at finals for our swimmers who are 11-15 year olds. Nicole Hetzer had a tremendous JO's swimming finals in the 400 IM, 200 breast, 100 free, 200 IM, 100 breast, 200 free, 100 fly and 50 free!!!!13 year old Claudia Reyesalso had a great JO's swimming finals in the 100 free, 1000 free, 200 IM, 200 fly, 200 free, 500 free and 50 free!!! The 10 unders and 15-18's swam timed finals. Also placing top 16 were 14 year old Chris Cannon in the 100 fly and 50 free, 10 year old Sean Cannon in the 100 free, 50 free, 50 fly and 200 free, 15 year old Lindsay Dundas in the 100 fly, 14 year old Mikaila Gaffey in the 200im, 100 breast and 200 free, 12 year old Katherine Green in the 50 100 free, 100 fly and 50 free, 14 year old Daniel Gshwind in the 50 free, 13 year old

Congratulations to Our 13-14 Girls 200 Free Relay for Breaking the Metro Record At The 09 Junior Olympics with a time of 1:39.49!!! Our relay members were Nicole Hetzer, Sara Dieterich, Claudia Reyes and Mikaila Gaffey...Great Job girls!! Kudos to Coach Alex and all our coaches for coaching them to so many new milestones this year!!

We had many swimmers with top 12 finishes this included Sarah Aiello with 5 top 12 finishes, Sara Dieterich with 2, Alaina Frango, Daniel Gschwind, Alexandra Hemp with 2 and first in the 100 Breast! Zone Update - Records Broken - Chris Cannon Makes Metro Team!!

Chris Cannon broke FIVE team 13-14 records at ZQ and also made the Zone team in the 50 free! He broke 100 free with a time of 50.63, 100 back with a time of 57.98, 200 free with a time of 1:55.72, 50 free with a time of 23.46 and the 500 free with a time of 5:09.27!! His brother Sean Cannon broke THREE 9-10 team records at the ZQ meet!! The 100 free with a time of 1:03.07, the 200 free with a time of 2:22.42 and the 50 fly with a time of 31.36!! Congratulations to 13-14 swimmer Sara Dieterich for breaking both the 100 back record 1:01.43 at the Zone Qual Meet. Sara also broke the 200 back record 2:14.98 at Senior Mets the previous weekend!

11-12 Swimmer Katherine Green also took 3rd in the 100 free with a time of 57.37 and 5th in the 50 free with a time of 26.42. 15-18 swimmer Lindsay Dundas took 3rd in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.01!

Congratulations to Sean Cannon who broke THREE 10 and under boys team records...50 free 29.18 .......50 fly 32.20........50 back 34.46 at our Sachem Dual Meet on Tuesday!!! Great job Sean!!

At the Sachem dual meet new ZQ quals were made by Lindsay Dundas, Catherine Green and Clara Russell. New Silver cuts were made by Alaina Frango, Karlie Herrera , Lauren Gorgano, Dylan House, Andrew Sharkey and Sam Sharkey. Great job everyone!!

Boys State Quals Update

Congratulations to Chris Cannon for making the Catholic School State team in the 200 free relay!! Chris and Danny Gschwind both swam at the Catholic School State quals meet last week for St.Anthonys and St. John's.

Swimming today, Saturday February 14th in the Section XI meet are Tyler Laghezza, Eric Dieterich, Patrick McIlvain and Brian McIlvain. Good Luck everyone!

Gold Medals were abundant in the bag of awards brought home this weekend. First place finishes were swum by Chris Cannon(A perfect hat trick with THREE), Sean Cannon (TWO), Sara Dieterich, Lindsay Dundas(TWO), Melanie Gaffey( An Amazing FOUR!), Mikaila Gaffey, Katharine Green, Nicole Hetzer(A perfect Hat trick with THREE), Nicholas Pizzurro, Leah Russell (TWO)!!!     After braving the icy roads to swim this past weekend the results were worth the trip out in the cold. Nicole Hetzer had THREE first place finishes!! Leah Russell had TWO first place finishes!! Sean Cannon, Sara Dieterich, Daniel Gshwind, Claudia Reyes, Natasha Rice and Douglas Russell all had ONE first place finish!! WOW ..great job!

  • Trident 2008

    Congratulations to Nicole Hetzer for a new best time and new 13-14 team record in the 200 breast with a time of 2:33.18!!

    Special thanks to R&M Designs(Dee Mignano and Sandy Reyes) for donating the great Trident Meet shirts! All our swimmers looked great!! They swam great too. Coach Alex spent the entire meet on the pool deck coaching our kids to great swims..thanks to him for all his hard work and positive encouragement...We had many swimmers make it back to finals in either the top 8 or top 16 and many swimmers who swam faster at finals than at prelims!

  • The 13-14 Girls Relays took a Gold in the 400 Medley relay with Sara Dieterich in the back, Mikaila Gaffey in the breast, Lindsay Dundas in the fly and Claudia Reyes in the Free and took bronze in the 400 free relay with Nicole Hetzer, Mikaila Gaffey, Clara Russell and Claudia Reyes!! Great job girls!!
  • 10 year Old Sean Cannon had SEVEN top 16 finishes!!

    Hauppauge One Day Meet - Lots of Top Finishes!!

    Our CSC swimmers had lots of top 12 finishes last weekend at the Pre-Thanksgiving Hauppauge meet. Great job to everyone!!     CSC swimmer Alexandria Agnst also swam at the state quals meet representing Bayshore HS in the 200 free relay!!

    States Update Results
    Congratulations to the CSC 200 Free Relay for placing 3rd in the state with an All American Consideration time of 1:38.72. Swimming on that relay were Melanie Gaffey, Mikaila Gaffey, Nicole Hetzer and Claudia Reyes. Melanie also placed 5th in the 100 free and 9th in the 50 free and Mikaila place 14th in the 50 free. The 200 Medley team of Sara Dieterich, Mikaila Gaffey, Melanie Gaffey and Katina Lown placed 7th in the state! Great job Everyone!!


    CSC swimmers at the State Quals Meet at SCCC

    EIGHT CSC Swimmers Made The Section XI State Team and Head To Buffalo

    CSC swimmers had a great day at the state quals meet. Melanie Gaffey is the Suffolk County Champion and heads to states in both the 50 and 100 free and also is the Suffolk County Champion and heads to states on 200 free and 200 medley relays... The State Bound 200 freestyle relay with swimmers Melanie Gaffey, Mikaila Gaffey, Nicole Hetzer and Claudia Reyes made a new Suffolk County record with a time of 1:38.54....The State Bound 200 Medley relay with swimmers Sara Dieterich, Mikaila Gaffey, Melanie Gaffey and Katina Lown are the County Champs with a time of 1:51.32...Mikaila Gaffey broke an 18 year old school record and heads to states in the 100 breast with third place time of 1:07.89. Nicole Hetzer made states in the 200IM with a 4th place finish and a time of 2:15.48, Lindsay Dundas(Patchogue-Medford HS Independent) heads to states in the 100 fly with a 2nd place time of 1:00.27. The THIRD relay for csc also heads to states..The 400 free relay with swimmers Nicole Hetzer, Claudia Reyes, Amanda George and Katina Lown came in third in the event but hit the state time with a time of 3:44.95. Other CSC swimmers swimming at the meet were Kate Bunster, Lauren Gibson, Eva Russell, Kathleen Kerr, Kathleen Bolin, Amanda George, Marissa Mignano, Jackie Tromp and Kim Mazza. Almost all swims by CSC swimmers at the meet were best times!! Congratulations also to Coach Larry Sullivan who is the Head coach and a former CSC club coach and to Coach Alex who is the Connetquot Varsity Assistant coach! Connetquot varsity took 2nd place overall at the meet!! The State meet is November 21,22 at the Flickenger Aquatic Center in Buffalo.

    Time Trials Meet Results - Great job to all the swimmers, coaches and especially the parents who volunteered to time and learn the console and computer!!





    CSC Swimmers Bring Home Gold at Sachem - Saturday November 8th

    Eight CSC swimmers earned one or more Gold medals this past weekend at Sachem. 14 year Old Clara Russell, led the team with THREE gold medals followed by 12 year old Alexandra Hemp with TWO and one each for Sarah Aiello, Christopher Cannon, Sara Dieterich, Natasha Rice, Eva Russell and Leah Russell. Great Job!!

    Top 6 finishers included, Alyssa Barbara, Sean Cannon, Lauren Davis, , Julia Llewellyn, Kimberly Mazza, Robert McDougall, Patrick McLlvain, Katharine Green and Courtney Herrera. 100% best times were swam by Christina Barbera, Chris Cannon, Sean Cannon, Olivia Carroll, Tyler Laghezza, Christine Llewellyn, Julia Llewelly, Kimberly Mazza, Robby Rivera, Eva Russell, and Grace Vaca. Great job to all and thanks to our coaches for their hard work before and during the meet!!

    Our 12 and Under swimmers swam great on Saturday at Eisenhower with lots of best swims and many top finishes.
